Customer Reviews
I was looking for something inexpensive, and this was a good way to go.
It does have two deficiencies. One is the lack of an average speed reading -- but you can calculate that in your head or when you get home. The other is that the mechanical attachment of the computer component to the bracket is weak -- this is the more important deficiency IMO.
Most bicycle computers can detach quickly from the bracket so that when the bicycle is left unattended the computer can't be stolen. Naturally, this mechanism must be solid so that the computer won't fly off if it gets bumped by your hand or if the bike hits a bump. The BC 509 seems dangerously loose to me; that is, it rotates out of the locked position too easily.
Because I don't care enough to return it, I simply put little pieces of duct tape between the computer and the bracket to prevent it from rotating easily. A kludge, I know, but effective; though of course now I can't neatly take it off the bike when I go into a store.
Other than that, it seems to function well and the rest of the construction seemed decent.
Just what I needed to keep track of my time and
miles. I like the stop time function, as some times
I stop, or get stopped by friendly neighbors to talk;
and the timer stops too, then starts again when I do.
It was easy to install.
