Customer Reviews

I got this Polar without the heart rate strap because my husband already had one. It is very accurate and I love
all the features. The only thing I wish was different, is that the miles traveled is small and in the upper right
hand corner. That is pretty important to me and I wish it was displayed bigger. Other than this small problem,
I love it and feel it is well worth the money.

Look for something of better quality.
1st unit arrived with a dead battery. It is a common CR2032 out of a car remote so I replaced it. Spent about 30 minutes programming it, and when I was done it would not pick up the heart rate monitor. I read the FAQ's and even tried another heart rate monitor. I have a polar s120 receiver that picked up both heart rate monitors no program... so I order the replacement.
Replacement arrives today....with a dead battery..... after much effort, same story, no HRM, not typical polar quality in my mind.

Customer Reviews

I received the product promptly. Installed and the unit will not register speed. Currently I have an RMA to return the defective product back my expense. I'm skeptical of the return policy but have called and been reassured there will be no issues. In the meantime, I called Polar USA and was told that they will not honor their warranty if I purchased through jomashop. The guy at Polar told me that jomashop is not authorized to sell their products. Now I am very skeptical how the rest of this experience will finish up. I think I going to ask for a refund and be finished with this. I've never heard of a manufacturer not honoring it's products if they where purchased by a certain retailer! I say look at a different product!

I bought this product from JomaShop, I still think this product has a really good value but not thanks to them...
The overall appearance of the product made it look like old and used.
+ The box was damaged, dirty, stained and looked as if it had been stabbed.
+ Cycling Computer buttons were dirty too, and it seemed highly manipulated by others before.
+ The bags containing the accesories of the product appeared to be reused and old.
+ It did came with a manual, sadly it's written in an unreadable language.
+ The Transmitter and Belt Set advertised in the images of the product were not included in the package.

This thing is truly a piece of junk. The instructions are unreadable as far as operation, the buttons have no audible click, nothing about this is credible. No website to get further instructions. Looks to me like a fly by night China manufacturer. Funny thing is the original instructions come from a website with a de domain and then were run through a translator and published in different languages. STAY AWAY!

Instrucciones poco claras

Customer Reviews

I've been using this wireless bike computer for since about the beginning of June. I've found it to be one of the best computers I have used. The initial setup and wireless connection were extremely easy to handle. I love the small size of the computer itself. It makes it very simple to detach and throw in my pocket if I stop somewhere while I'm out riding. Despite its small size, I find the display very readable. The size is also perfect for my road bike, it's large enough to be useful without being overpowering.

For the price this is a good wireless computer, if like me you are only interested in speed, distance, and time it works very well. The directions and the setup buttons leave a little bit to be desired. If you want to change one thing on the read outs you have to reprogram the whole thing. Once you get used to it, its not too bad. So far it has worked well.

This super speedy and easy installation also makes the Nerd a great computer to move between bikes.

With 12 functions and the ability to maintain unique data between rides, the Nerd allows you to document, review, and analyze your riding data to your heart's content on and off the bike. The Nerd has a multi-bike selection function, making it an ideal computer for multiple riders and/or multiple bikes. The Nerd displays current speed and a 12/24 hour clock and computes your average speed, maximum speed, and relative speed output as a bar graph of your current versus average speed. Trip distance as well as distance per day can be recorded. The distance per day feature automatically zeroes itself at midnight allowing you to figure out how far you've traveled without having to do any math. This is an ok computer. It works, it works well. Its got a big screen and is easy to get on and off (which is good for a commuter bike).
However, it goes to sleep and you have to click it before it starts working - my old Cateye would just 'wake up' from sleep. Plus, the fork sensor moves easily, so you'll lose your reading from time to time and have to stop and adjust it. Problematically, the screen contrast on this computer makes it almost unreadable when mounted on your stem.
Really, get a Cateye...get this if you have to take the computer off and on a lot.

Easy set up and use. Tough little computer that has served me well already. The instructions could be a little clearer but again, it was still easy to set up.

Sigma ROX 8.0 Triple Wireless Computer

Product Description

Amazon.com
Take your cycling workouts to the next level with the Sigma Rox 8.0 triple wireless cycling computer, which tracks almost every workout detail you can imagine. The computer is equipped with a digitally encoded three-channel wireless Sigma Transmission System (STS), which allows the computer to use several sensors at once. This simultaneous sensing means the computer can measure your pulse, track your speed, and count your cadence all without missing a beat. The STS feature allows the Rox 8.0 to maximize your training data.

The Rox 8.0's USB interface lets you transfer your training data to a PC for analysis. The Rox 8.0's speedometer functions include options for current speed, average speed, maximum speed, and trip distance. You can also compare your current and average speed on the same screen, or check the trip distance and total distance. The computer even offers a programmable trip section counter, a roadbook that lets you create a back-and-forth itinerary.
The Rox 8.0's HR functions include ECG-precise measurements of your current, average, and maximum heart rate, along with three settable heart rate zones. Each zone has an acoustic zone alarm to notify you when you're exceeding or falling below your HR target. The display also shows your heart rate as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, along with your total calories burned and your total time in the heart rate zone.
Serious cyclists can opt to use the computer's cadence functions (current, average, and maximum), which help you ride efficiently regardless of your destination. Adding to the computer's versatility are six altitude measurement functions, nine uphill functions, and eight downhill functions. The altitude functions cover the basics (current altitude and current incline/decline) in addition to more advanced calibration functions, such as calibrating your starting altitude and calibrating via the air pressure. The uphill and downhill functions use this data to create a summation of your training session, with such tidbits as the day's total climb and descent, the day's maximum altitude, the trip distance, the rate of ascent and descent, your maximum ascent and descent speed, your average incline and decline, and your maximum incline and decline.
On top of all the other features, the Rox 8.0 includes a stopwatch, countdown timer, clock, alarm, three temperature functions, an LCD backlight, and a battery status display. The Rox 8.0 comes with a bracket for your bike handlebars and stem, and is adjustable to two wheel sizes. The computer also automatically recognizes a second bike, so you and a partner can train together using the same computer. And when you're done with your ride, the Rox 8.0's USB interface lets you transfer your training data to a Mac or PC. The information corresponds with Sigma's Data Center software, which lets you perform a comprehensive analysis of each training session. The Rox 8.0 requires a separately sold docking station to optimize the data transfer and analysis.
The SIGMA ROX answers just about all the questions you could imagine. Besides measuring altitude, inclination and temperature, the newly developed digitally encoded 3-channel wireless STS (SIGMA TRANSMISSION SYSTEM) makes it possible to use several sensors, such as pulse measurement, speed and cadence transmitter, at the same time. PC interface available, sold separately. Features customizable display that allows the user to view ten favorite functions simultaneously while riding. Wireless speed, cadence and heart rate via encoded data transfer which eliminates cross-talk. Features 64 total functions in 12 different categories.

Product Features

  • Sophisticated wireless bicycle computer with dozens of functions

  • Measures current, average, and maximum speed; built-in heart rate monitoring

  • Reads current altitude and incline/decline; displays total climb/descent

  • 3 cadence functions; stopwatch, countdown timer, clock, and alarm

Customer Reviews

I just installed this yesterday, and so far I'm really impressed. The Rox 8.0 takes care of many of the annoying shortcomings found in most wireless cyclocomputers.
Installation is simple and everything is very well designed. The cadence and speed transmitters can both be installed either with zip ties or with O-rings, both of which are included. The transmitters both have green LED's that flash when they are receiving a signal from the magnet, so you know that you have installed them correctly. The batteries come pre-installed. The low-battery indicators are displayed on the head unit. The heart rate function actually worked the first time I tried it, which is rare in my experience.
The interface takes about 30 seconds of getting used to, and then it's fantastic. After your first day of using it and getting familiar with the functions, you will want to turn off the 'Button Info' feature in the settings, as this will cut your button presses in half. This feature, when turned on, displays the function of each button when you press it, and you must actually press the button a second time to perform the function. Everything is very predictable, if not fully intuitive. The bottom two buttons are used to move left and right, and as +/- buttons. The top two buttons are 'Select' and 'Back' type buttons.
The altimeter must be calibrated before each ride. You tell the Rox 8.0 your current altitude by holding the right two buttons-- this is not explained well in the manual. You can do this by retrieving one of three Home Altitudes; entering your actual altitude if you know it; or entering the current air pressure at sea level as provided by your weather station. After that, altitude is calculated using the current air pressure.
The trip values are reset by pressing the top left button. The unit stores the data from the last 7 trips if you want it to (it asks every time you reset.)
The only thing I don't like about the product is that the documentation could be better. Not all functions are explained in the manual (such as HR zone alarm, HR zone bar, how to use the alarm clock, etc.) Most of these functions are easy enough to figure out for yourself if you are familiar with similar functions elsewhere, but should still be explained in the documentation. Some are simply a mystery: I still haven't figured out the purpose of the Distance+ and Distance- functions. One counts up from zero and the other counts down from zero, and they can be reset separately from the other trip functions. I don't know why you would want to do this.

I have owned several cycling computers, including various wireless units made by Cateye and the Shimano FlightDeck. The Sigma ROX is the best I've owned yet. Setup is straightforward, and though usage takes some getting used to, once you get accustomed to the way it works it is just outstanding. It is solid, well-made. I've been caught in two heavy rain storms and this unit never stopped working and never even fogged up. The reports it produces through its PC link and software are the most detailed I have seen. I'm so happy with it that I'm looking for a second unit for my time trial bike.

Customer Reviews

This is my second Sigma bike computer; the first is a wired job installed on a Trek FX 7.3 hybrid that has worked flawlessly for close to two years, on the original battery. The new one, the 1609 non-cad wireless, is now on a Trek 2.3 road bike. Installation is easy enough, but you must follow carefully the very specific instructions, which I thought were pretty clear. Though wireless, it seems to record lots of information without a problem. Just following the directions patiently, I believe, is the trick. After I installed it, the computer started working with the first roll out of the garage and has not hiccupped so far, which is only about twenty miles or so. Still, I have grown confident in Sigma bike computers and recommend them.

I ordered this computer from amazon. I received it in e few days from Niagara Cycle Works. I have a Planet bike computer that works great but I wanted a computer with the cadence feature. The computer seems ok but the Magnet that goes on the spoke is a joke. It didn't fit around the spoke and it is actually a skinny spoke on a road bike. Then the cheap plastic back part to the magnet broke. not sure if I should send it back or get a new magnet. Just aggravated because the planet bike computer uses a good metal screw on magnet that stays solid.
